Born and Bred In Network (BaBI): Born in Bradford

The Born and Bred in (BaBi) Network is a rapidly growing national research platform that builds on the success of the Born in Bradford study. It is a network of electronic birth cohorts across the country—currently linking routinely collected data on a growing number of families (n=>70,000 so far). This unique platform gains consent from pregnant women to link their health, education, and social care data with that of their children, creating a clear, longitudinal picture of family life. The BaBi network's purpose is to act as a powerful health intelligence tool: allowing researchers to identify health and welfare needs of families, implement local strategies and actions, and then rigorously evaluate their impact on a large scale. FixOurFood researcher Professor Maria Bryant is the Academic Director of the BaBi Network, providing strategic research leadership to ensure this vast resource effectively informs policy and improves services for families across the UK.
