FareShare Yorkshire
FareShare Yorkshire is a major charity tackling both food waste and food poverty by intercepting good quality, in-date surplus food from the food industry and redistributing it to frontline charities and community groups across the county. Operating out of key regional centres in Barnsley and Leeds, the organisation supports nearly 400 Community Food Members—including homeless shelters, soup kitchens, schools, and refuges—with enough food for millions of meals annually. Beyond its core mission of turning an environmental problem into a social solution, FareShare Yorkshire runs an award-winning employability programme that offers intensive training, including accredited forklift truck permits and soft skills development, to volunteers who are far from the job market, helping them gain confidence and move into paid employment.
