ShefFood

ShefFood acts as a vital cross-sector sustainable food partnership for Sheffield, dedicated to making the city's food system fairer, healthier, and greener. Its main strategic document is the Local Food Action Plan for Sheffield 2023-2030, which was co-created by nearly a hundred organisations and outlines over 70 actions across five strategies, such as Strengthening food networks and Building an inclusive food movement. Specific examples of their work include promoting local food access through initiatives like the Community Food Provision Map and the Just Meals scheme at Sheffield Children's Hospital, which provides pay-what-you-can meals using surplus food. Additionally, they champion local, sustainable procurement by developing roadmaps to encourage institutions like universities and hospitals to buy from local producers, and support urban agriculture through projects like the Norton Nurseries transformation into a nature-friendly food production hub.
