Yorkshire Grain Alliance

The Yorkshire Grain Alliance (YGA) is a pioneering collaboration of farmers, millers, bakers, researchers, and community members dedicated to building a more resilient, diverse, and flavourful local grain economy across Yorkshire. Its primary mission is to move away from intensive, global commodity-based grain systems towards agroecological, low-input farming methods that foster biodiversity and environmental health. The alliance focuses on growing and utilising diverse, non-commodity grain varieties like heritage and population wheats, connecting producers directly with local processors and consumers to ensure fair pricing, transparency, and knowledge-sharing along a shortened supply chain, ultimately strengthening local food sovereignty and providing the community with nutritious, regionally distinct food products.
